美術家。1998年静岡県富士市生まれ。 作者である自分を媒体にして、キャラクターというものについて検証し、主に映像やパフォーマンス作品を制作・発表している。 2019年から継続して制作している「『彼女』シリーズ」では、コスプレに用いられる「美少女着ぐるみ」を使用して、オリジナルキャラクターの「彼女」を他者に演じてもらう。作者は画面内にてキャラクターと同じ空間に存在することで、人間の暴力性を引き受けようと試みる。人間とキャラクターの非対称な関係のなかで、キャラクターを人間の欲望を請負うために生まれた商業的な存在としてだけではなく、生物として捉え、彼女(彼)らが持つ権利について作品を通じて考えている。

Mari SHIRAKAWA
Artist. Born in 1998 in Fuji City, Shizuoka Prefecture. Using myself as a medium, I explore the concept of “character” through my work, which primarily consists of video and performance art.
Since 2019, I have been working on an ongoing project titled “She” Series, in which I use “bishoujo kigurumi”—a type of costume often used in cosplay—to have others perform as my original character, “She.” By placing myself within the same space as the character on screen, I attempt to confront and embody the inherent violence of human existence.
Within the asymmetrical relationship between humans and characters, I seek to go beyond the notion of characters as mere commercial entities designed to fulfill human desires. Instead, I approach them as living beings and, through my work, explore the rights they possess.
